Silence Remover for Audio & Video
VoxCut is a dedicated silence remover for audio and video files. It automatically detects and removes silent pauses — dead air, long breaths, gaps between takes — so you don't have to scrub through a waveform by hand.
Windows, Linux and Android — free tier available, no credit card required.
What is a silence remover?
A silence remover is software that automatically finds and cuts the quiet parts of a recording — the pauses, breaths and dead air between spoken segments — without you manually selecting and deleting each one. VoxCut does this by analyzing the amplitude of your file against a threshold you set, then exporting only the parts with speech. Unlike full video/audio editors that bundle silence removal as one feature among many, VoxCut focuses on this single job and runs it entirely on your device.
How VoxCut removes silence
- 1Drop in an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, OGG, Opus, WMA) or a video file (MP4, MOV) — VoxCut extracts and cleans the audio track, then re-syncs the video.
- 2Set a silence threshold in decibels and a minimum pause duration. VoxCut previews exactly what will be cut before you export anything.
- 3Export the cleaned file, or a Pro XML/EDL timeline for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
Audio & video, not just audio
Most silence removers are audio-only. VoxCut also handles video files by trimming the underlying audio track and keeping the picture in sync — useful for talking-head YouTube videos, recorded lectures and screen-share tutorials.
